So, you have AirPods and need to find their serial number, but don't know where to find it? 

What to consider first

Your AirPods have multiple serial numbers: one on the left AirPod, one on the right AirPod, and one on the charging case (or MagSafe case).

• Apple uses the charging case’s serial number for support, warranty, and service.
  
  
• The numbers on the individual AirPods are unique to each piece and are usually only needed for the replacement of a single AirPod.

The serial number is mainly used when you need assistance from the manufacturer directly (in case it’s still under Apple’s warranty).

It is not to be confused with the model number:

• The model number is not unique; many AirPods of the same generation share the same model number (e.g., AirPods Pro 2nd gen).
• It simply identifies the product type/version, while the serial number identifies your specific unit.

The model number is mainly used to identify which AirPods model you own, and potentially which AirPods model replacement you need.

How to find the serial number

1. On Your iPhone or iPad (when paired)

• Connect the AirPods to your iPhone/iPad.
  
  
• Go to “Settings” > “Bluetooth”.
  
  
• Tap the ⓘ info button next to your AirPods’ name.
  
  
• Scroll to see the Serial Number.
  
  

Alternatively:

• “Settings” > “General” > “About”
•  Scroll down > Tap your AirPods’ name > The serial number is listed there.
  
  

2. On a Mac (when paired)

1. With your AirPods connected, go to the Apple Menu, then go to “System Settings” (or “System Preferences”).
   
   
2. Select “Bluetooth”.
   
   
3. Select the ⓘ info button next to your AirPods, and your serial number will appear.

3. On the AirPods case

• Charging case or MagSafe case:
  Open the lid, and you’ll see the serial number printed inside the case (near the hinge).
  
  
• For the Smart case (AirPods Max), the serial number is not printed on the case, it is engraved under the left AirPod’s ear cushion.
  
  

4. On the AirPods Themselves

• Each AirPod has its own serial number printed in very small print on the stem.
