“Important Message” or “Unknown Part” warning from Apple?Updated 3 days ago

Why Am I Seeing an “Important Message” on My iPhone?

If your iPhone shows an “Important Message” about a part (such as the battery, display, or camera), it simply means that this component was replaced during a past repair.

Apple’s latest iPhones will display this message unless the part was replaced by Apple themselves or an Apple Authorized Service Provider — even if the replacement part works perfectly.

How Long Will the Message Stay?

  • Visible on your lock screen for 4 days

  • Then visible in Settings for another 15 days

This message does not affect your iPhone’s performance and does not mean the part is faulty — it only indicates that it was replaced.

Checking the Replaced Part

If you’re using iOS 15.2 or later, go to:
Settings > General > About > Parts and Service History

  • Genuine Apple Part – Replaced using Apple’s own parts and processes

  • Unknown Part – Replaced using a non-Apple part or by a non-Apple technician

Regardless of the label, the part is functionally the same and will work just as well as the original.
