How do I force restart my iPhone/iPad?Updated 7 hours ago
Force Restart Your iPhone or iPad
If your iPhone or iPad isn’t responding and you can’t turn it off or on normally, a force restart can help — don’t worry, this won’t delete any of your data.
For iPads & iPhone 8, X, and newer
Quickly press and release the Volume Up button.
Quickly press and release the Volume Down button.
Press and hold the Side button until the Apple logo appears, then release.
The screen may go black briefly as your device shuts down and restarts.
For official Apple instructions, see: Apple Support – Force restart iPhone
For iPhone 7 & iPhone 7 Plus
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Volume Down buttons at the same time.
Keep holding both buttons for about 10 seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
For iPhone 6 / 6 Plus / 6s / 6s Plus / 5 / 5s / SE (1st Gen)
Press and hold the Home button.
While holding the Home button, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button.
Keep holding both buttons for about 10 seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
